The altar is but crudely made
The temple built from ill-cut stones
Laid haphazardly and at odd intervals
For that god to whom it is sworn and consecrated
Has not demanded better
But an earnest worship should ever give its best
And the keepers have just the one task
For which they are compensated as well as they could expect
Perhaps they should be dismissed
