The Grinch and the Grouch are both green;
There has to be a reason.
Are they cast in corruption's color,
Made to resemble rot and decay?
Are they a borrowing from the Bard,
Skin supplanting eyes?
Are they anti-capitalist comments,
Likened to money and made mean?
And if it is so simple
As green was cheap that day,
The day they were made,
Then there has to be a reason for that, too.
There is always something more to find.
